Pressure filter pond

A pressure filter filters and cleans the water in your pond in several ways. You connect it to a pond pump with sufficient capacity. Unlike, for example, a flow-through filter, a pressure filter is always under pressure. This allows you to use the water flowing out of the pressure filter for a waterfall or stream, for example.

Operation of a pressure filter

Thanks to the speed of the pressurized water and the shape of the pressure filter, a vortex flow ensures that suspended particles and mud are separated from the water. Pressure filters are compactly built with all filter elements in one compartment. The water is passed by filter sponges, biofilter and UV-c lamp at speed. Each of these filters the water in its own way.

A pressure filter helps clean and filter in multiple ways

The BluPressure Pressure Filter from BluGarda filters and cleans the water in your pond in multiple ways. You connect a pond pump with sufficient capacity to the pressure filter. Thanks to the speed of the pressurized water and the shape of the pressure filter, a vortex flow ensures that suspended particles and mud are separated from the water.

With two different types of sponge filter, dirt particles are collected and harmful substances are broken down. A biological filter of various microorganisms is created in the sponge over time. These break down harmful ammonia and nitrite to nitrate. Nitrate is an important nutrient source for your pond plants.

All about how the eco-system works in your pond.

Pressure filter pond with UV lamp

BluGarda's pressure filters all have a UVc lamp. A UVc unit helps fight green water by destroying algae, floating algae and other microorganisms. The built-in UV-c lamp fights these microorganisms, giving them no chance to multiply. As a result, the water becomes clear and healthy for the fish again.

The UV-c capacity of the pressure filters varies from 11W UV-c to 18W UV-c. Should this not be enough? Then you can easily connect an additional UV-c device to the output of the pressure filter.

Pressure filter or flow-through filter

When purchasing a filter, you often have the choice between different types of filter systems. In a flow-through filter, you pump water up into the filter and gravity ensures that the water finds its way past all compartments of the filter and to the outlet. Then the water that flows out can be drained into a stream, waterfall or directly back into the pond. However, the pressure on the water coming out of a flow-through filter is often limited and not constant. With a pressure filter, the water remains under pressure and will be better directed through the filter. At the output of the filter, you can also use it for a waterfall or watercourse.

Easy to install yourself

A pressure filter is very easy to install yourself. BluGarda's pressure filters include easy connection options for input and output of different hose sizes. You can bury a pressure filter partially underground. This allows you to hide it nicely out of sight along the pond.

Maintenance of a pressure filter

In any filter, the filter sponges must be cleaned regularly. This is often a tedious job that requires the filter to be completely disconnected. The BluFilter Pressure Filters from BluGarda contain a built-in cleaning mechanism that allows you to clean the filter sponges and get rid of dirt in no time.

The filter sponges are finely pressed in the pressure filter so that dirt particles flow away from the sponges. You can discharge the dirty water through a separate outlet directly to the sewer or, for example, the plants in your garden. In this way, the dirty and cloudy water does not end up in your pond. After the filter sponges are cleaned, you can easily switch the filter back to filter function.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pressure filter?

A pressure filter is a type of filter used for purifying pond water. It operates under pressure, meaning the water is pumped through the filter, removing impurities such as algae, dirt, and organic waste. A pressure filter is very effective and can also be buried or hidden, making it invisible next to the pond.

How to Clean a Pressure Filter?

All BluPressure pressure filters from BluGarda have a 'backwash' function. This allows you to rinse the filter mats and drain dirty water to, for example, the garden or the sewer. During backwash, you clean the filter mats with a lever or, with the BluPressure Smart Control, even automatically at the touch of a button.

For Which Ponds is a Pressure Filter Suitable?

Pressure filters are ideal for medium to large ponds, especially those with a higher fish population. They are also suitable for ponds with waterfalls or fountains, as they can operate under pressure and pump the water upwards. For small ponds or ponds with few fish, a simpler filter system such as the BluFilter vijverpomp met filter may suffice.

How Does a UV-C Work in a Pressure Filter?

A UV-C lamp in a pressure filter helps to destroy floating algae and pathogens in the pond water. The UV-C light breaks down the DNA structure of these organisms, preventing them from reproducing. This results in clearer water and a healthier environment for fish and plants. All BluPressure pressure filters from BluGarda contain an integrated UV-C lamp.

What is a Backwash Function?

A backwash function is a feature in BluPressure pressure filters that allows you to easily clean the filter without having to disassemble it. This function reverses the water flow through the filter, removing and flushing away accumulated dirt from the filter sponges. This makes filter maintenance much easier and more efficient. In addition, you can wring out the filter sponges with a lever or an automatic button on the BluPressure Smart Control.
